Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Plant Operator to join our production team. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient loading and packaging of dry ice products in strict adherence to quality control standards. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the facility to ensure a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading & Packaging:
    Perform the daily loading, weighing, and packaging of dry ice products into various containers (blocks, pellets, slices) based on customer orders.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Inspect all finished products to ensure they meet the company’s strict quality standards regarding weight, density, and packaging integrity.
  • Equipment Operation:
    Operate production machinery and material handling equipment (such as forklifts or pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
  • Documentation:
    Accurate logging of production numbers, shipping manifests, and inventory usage.

Physical Requirements

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job. Unconditioned work space (i.e. warm in summer, cool in winter). Hazards require the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes). Dry ice is extremely cold, and therefore requires that gloves be worn when directly handling dry ice.

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Able to function safely in a noisy environment with safe, but elevated, levels of CO2 vapor present in the facility. Shift work required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be in good physical condition. Essential job function requires the routine lifting and manipulation of dry ice blocks ranging in weight from 5 – 60 pounds each. Work may require standing, stooping, crouching, or bending.

Required Qualifications and Competencies
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, commissions, proportions, and percent.
  • One (1) year experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
