Overview

This position is responsible for establishing and improving relationships with customers to better understand sales territory, schedules, and customer needs. The role involves communicating with customers by phone or in person, providing product knowledge, estimating delivery dates, and ensuring smooth order processing through collaboration with credit, warehouse, outside sales, and management departments.

What You’ll Do
  • Communicate with customers by phone or in person to receive orders for products.
  • Solicit sales of new or additional products.
  • Practice good interpersonal relations, using tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude toward customers and co‑workers.
  • Liaise between the customer and QED departments, including credit purchasing, warehouse, outside sales, and management.
  • Determine make, type, and quality of merchandise desired, using product catalogs and reference materials.
  • Identify and use appropriate company and customer pricing systems.
  • Make phone calls to regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Describe or demonstrate products, using samples or catalogs, emphasizing sellable features.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Provide oral and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms, and delivery for standard, complex, or non‑standard merchandise.
  • Prepare cash or charge sales tickets with required identification and necessary information for customer, merchandise, price, and sales tax status.
  • Estimate delivery dates based on the company’s delivery schedules.
  • Purchase materials following approved purchasing procedures.
  • Review complaints concerning billing or products and refer them to designated departments for investigation and resolution.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports necessary for business transactions.
  • Recognize when special pricing is required and provide competitive pricing.
  • Follow up on all quotations in an attempt to write the order, or capture input for future quotations.
  • Handle difficulties with customers with diplomacy and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer order problems and complaints promptly.
  • Acquire, use, and continuously develop personal technical knowledge of general and specialty merchandise items to assist customers and company personnel.
  • Perform shipping, receiving, inventory control, and order pulling responsibilities in the warehouse.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to perform math functions representative of the job, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • In–depth knowledge of QED computer systems, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Strong teamwork skills and adherence to QED’s core values.
Compensation

$20.00 – $25.00/Hour + Counter Sales Monthly Commission.

Schedule

7:00 am – 4:00 pm (Monday‑Friday).
