Initial Training Benefits:

  • Thirty-three (33) college credit hours upon completion of the WHP Basic Academy training program, resulting in two credit diplomas through the WHP partnership with Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

    • Credit Diploma 2 for WHP Academy (18 credits)
  • The WHP is a partner with the United States Veterans Administration's On-The-Job Training Program. Eligible Veterans can receive additional compensation through this program while training with the Patrol. (This is an additional income up to your first two (2) years).

The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Trooper I to fill vacancies across Wyoming. The Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper I enforces the laws of the State of Wyoming through primary contact with the public and has statewide jurisdiction.

WHP Troopers must:

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic.

  • Approach daily activities with confidence, passion, and sincerity.
  • Be truthful, ethical, accountable, consistent, fair, and predictable.
  • Maintain a positive outlook while demonstrating patience and understanding of others.

WHP candidates must be able to complete the Wyoming Highway Patrol training academy and field training program. The length of these programs varies based on previous experience and/or certifications. Successful Trooper I candidates must be willing to live and work anywhere in Wyoming; assignments are based on the balance of the desire of the applicant and the needs of the Department, with your duty station assignment provided to you at your time of hire.
