The WHP Trooper II enforces the laws of the State of Wyoming through primary contact with the public and has statewide jurisdiction.

Initial Training Benefits:

• Thirty-three (33) college credit hours upon completion of the WHP Basic Academy training program, resulting in two credit diplomas through the WHP partnership with Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

• Credit Diploma 1 for WHP Basic Academy (15 credits)
• Credit Diploma 2 for WHP Academy (18 credits)

• The WHP is a partner with the United States Veterans Administration On-The-Job Training Program. Eligible Veterans can receive additional compensation through this program while training with the Patrol. (This is an additional income up to your first two (2) years).

WHP candidates must be able to complete the Wyoming Highway Patrol training academy and field training program. The length of these programs varies based on previous experience and/or certifications. Successful Trooper II candidates must be willing to live and work anywhere in Wyoming; assignments are based on the department's needs.
