Target Security Specialist

Assets Protection (AP) teams protect our guests, team, and brand by mitigating shortage risks, preventing and resolving theft and fraud, and ensuring product availability for guests. They build relationships with store leaders, public safety officials, and law enforcement.

• Use intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure.
• Respond to crisis situations, manage safety and crowd control, and de‑escalate incidents.
• Operate Target’s video surveillance system and document cases using the case‑management system.
• Provide support to guests and team members, greeting and assisting them in a friendly manner.
• Promote a physical security culture by assessing and maintaining safe standards throughout the store, including exterior property.
• Accurately document security incidents, including theft recoveries, apprehensions, and merchandise receipt checks.
• Follow all AP policies and procedures, including reporting hazards and ensuring compliance with safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as required by business needs.

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Compliance with any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
• Effective communication skills and ability to use multiple frequency devices and handheld scanners
• Capacity to work independently and with a team, managing workload and prioritizing tasks
• Focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment, accomplishing multiple tasks within established time frames
• Physical ability to climb ladders, lift and move merchandise up to 40 pounds, and remain mobile throughout the shift

• Ability to climb up and down ladders
• Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely
• Flexible work schedule (night, weekend, holiday, peak shopping times)
• Work in varying temperatures and humidity while performing job duties in drive‑up and carry‑out areas
• Remain mobile throughout the shift
