Job Overview
Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking talent to join our organization to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. In this role you will work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams, providing service on advanced heavy commercial equipment and cutting‑edge industrial systems.
ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
Provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service, including recommendations to ensure the facility is running efficiently and identifying upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Work in partnership with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers.
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and uniforms and comply with a strong safety focus.
Qualifications- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (AFL‑CIO).
- Dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services.
- Minimum of three (3) years commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Experience with mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators and use of vibration equipment to troubleshoot driveline issues.
- Travel may be required 10%–20% to support branch customers.
- Able to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to explain problems, causes, and corrective actions to customers.
- Self‑starter with a passion for learning and applying skills on the job.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to enroll in training programs, including the Service Technical Academy, to develop HVAC product knowledge and sales quoting skills.
Pay Rate: $45–55 per hour, determined by the collective bargaining agreement or rate sheet.
