Data Center Technician

Description

We are looking for Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians with both inside and outside plant experience, including cabled inside and hardware work. The job is 60% inside plant and 40% outside fiber optic work at a large enterprise-level data center.

• Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including servers, racks, network equipment, and PDUs.
• Manage cable infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with network and system engineers for seamless integration.
• Perform routine inspections of environmental and equipment health, including cooling systems and backup power solutions.
• Plan and oversee installation of external infrastructure such as conduits, cables, poles, and related facilities.
• Ensure proper routing and termination of fiber optic and copper cables between buildings or external network providers.
• Inspect and maintain outside plant infrastructure to mitigate risks and ensure long‑term reliability.
• Work with external contractors and vendors to coordinate installation and repairs.
• Maintain detailed records of outside plant installations, including documentation of routes and system updates.

Data center, Linux, Rack and stack, fiber optic cable, hardware troubleshooting, Cat6, infrastructure, Windows 10, install, cable.

• Apprentice license and Low Voltage Technician licenses: LV‑G (4,000 Hours) and LV‑C (500 Hours).
• Proven experience in data center operations with inside and outside plant infrastructure.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with environmental systems such as HVAC, electrical backup, and fire suppression systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in high‑pressure environments.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with cross‑functional teams, contractors, and vendors.

Intermediate Level

Contract position based out of Cheyenne, WY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 – $30.00 per hour.
