GENERAL DESCRIPTIONPut your craftsmanship and construction expertise to work maintaining and preserving facilities that serve the people of Wyoming. This position performs highly skilled carpentry work and leads a variety of construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects that ensure state‑owned buildings remain safe, functional, and visually appealing.
Working independently and as a project leader, you will complete and oversee routine and complex carpentry projects involving building structures, finishes, fixtures, and related components. Your work will directly support Wyoming's elected officials, state employees, customers, and visitors by maintaining facilities that are secure, efficient, and welcoming.
In addition to construction and maintenance responsibilities, this position plays an important role in preserving the historical character and aesthetic quality of state facilities. Success in this role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to quality workmanship. Through your efforts, you will help protect valuable public assets while ensuring state facilities continue to serve Wyoming residents for years to come.

- Repairs, constructs, and maintains state‑owned and operated facilities or the Capitol complex and Cheyenne buildings controlled by the Department of Administration and Information, including some leased buildings.
- Responsible for building and facility interior components, including floors, window coverings, blinds, walls, non‑structural walls, cubicles, doors, ceilings, and furniture.
- Exterior components such as roofing, exterior walls, doors, windows, and stone and masonry veneers.
- Maintains roof drains, downspouts, gutters, drain scuppers, and flashing.
- Maintains wood, metal, and masonry fences and non‑electronic gates.
- Repair, replace, and maintain cast‑in‑place concrete sidewalks, parking areas, and concrete sub‑floors.
- Plans and calculates requirements, has knowledge of the applicable building code, and completes a variety of construction tasks, including wood and metal framing of ceilings, floors, and walls, both structural and non‑structural.
- Installs and repairs gypsum board, fire tape finish, and texture.
- Installs and repairs wooden or metal door frames, doors, jambs, casing, and hardware.
- Installs and repairs flooring, including carpet, wood, tile, and vinyl.
- Installs ceiling systems to include suspended, fire‑rated, direct‑glue, wood, and specialty.
- Maintains waterproofing and caulking sealants on expansion joints and weather stripping.
- Collaborates with the locksmith to provide assistance in inspecting, adjusting, and maintaining locks, kick plates, door sweeps, closers, operators, weather stripping, exit devices, and thresholds on all state facilities; inventories, cleans, and maintains all hand tools and power tools; inventories and maintains a supply of basic building materials.
- Provides services to all state employees to personalize and maintain state‑owned furnishings in their offices or cubicle space, along with designing and constructing office accessories to accommodate employee needs.
- Installs partition walls and components to create cubicle walls; knows and understands the ADA code and fire code pertaining to such.
- Designs and constructs picture and poster frames.
- Safely hangs pictures, diplomas, posters, and various items; hangs and installs artwork and bronze building plaques; builds displays for artwork and antiques; safely hangs screens, monitors, Smartboards, TVs, display cabinets, and shadow boxes.
- Assists other crafts and crews.
- Erects pre‑built scaffolding and designs and constructs built‑in‑place scaffolds and work platforms as required by job duties of all crafts.
