The Fire Sprinkler Journeyman performs tasks at various job sites. The role requires a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial buildings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Install fire sprinkler systems, piping, and associated equipment according to blueprints, local codes, and safety regulations.
- Inspect, test, and repair existing fire sprinkler systems to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan the layout and installation of sprinkler systems.
- Ensure all installations meet local, state, and national fire codes.
- Diagnose issues with malfunctioning sprinkler systems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations to prevent accidents on the job site, ensuring the safety of oneself and others.
- Work overnight and travel as required, with the possibility of extended stays out of the local area.
- Drive company vehicles (½ and ¾ ton pickups) as necessary and comply with General Contractor stipulations for onsite installation.
- Complete other duties assigned by management.
- High school diploma or GED.
- DOL JM status preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in the fire sprinkler field.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel and maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Team-oriented focus.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, including walking, maneuvering, and climbing ladders.
- Lift, push, and pull heavy pipe daily (10-40 lbs frequently, 50-75 lbs occasionally).
- Bend and squat frequently for long periods.
- Reach and work above shoulder level frequently for long periods.
- Withstand occasional exposure to hot, cold, and/or inclement weather.
- Wear PPE such as steel toe shoes, ear plugs, safety glass, safety harnesses, and hard hats as required.
