Skilled Laborer
Laborers have general responsibility to provide support and assistance to the other skilled crafts working on the project. Laborers employed by Hensel Phelps provide support for the form carpenters and for the concrete operation in general, ironworkers/rodbusters involved in installing reinforcing steel, and masons involved in the installation of block and brickwork. This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential duties include preparation of areas for the placement of concrete, assembly of concrete forms, handling the concrete bucket suspended from a crane, assisting in stripping the concrete forms, supporting concrete finishers, supporting block masons, assisting carpenters, loading, unloading, and identifying building materials, promoting a safe work environment, operating a computer or tablet, frequently communicating with employees and external stakeholders, reading written communications, climbing, working from heights, balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, operating various tools, and tolerating exposure to dusts and chemicals.
Position qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, following safe work practices, taking initiative, attention to detail, reliable transportation, and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience in construction layout, OSHA 10 Certification, and CPR & First Aid Certification.
