Tractor​/Trailer Fleet Technician

Role and Responsibilities

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance services, including changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment.
• Establishes and maintains positive working relationships.
• Receives and carries out instructions.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
• Excellent mechanical repair skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
• Ability to read work orders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Associate degree; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
• Good vision to inspect repair work.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

• ASE certified and DOT inspection certified as required by supervisor.
• EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 609 as required by supervisor and/or location.
• EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 as required by supervisor and/or location.
• Valid driver’s license as required by supervisor, with CDL Class A driver’s license preferred.

• Must have own tools.
• Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) required.

Monday‑Thursday 8 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
