Refrigeration Technician

Our client, a leading dealer of semi-trailers is expanding and hiring a skilled and motivated Reefer Technician to join their service team. The Reefer Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining refrigerated trailer units (reefers) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation for our customers. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

• Diagnose and repair refrigeration units, including Carrier, Thermo King and Cargobull systems.
• Attend company paid training at Cargobull.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service on reefer units.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.
• Inspect refrigeration units for proper operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
• Repair and replace components such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, sensors, wiring, belts, and fuel systems.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using manufacturer-specific software and tools.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately and timely.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
• Communicate repair recommendations and maintenance findings to service advisors and customers.
• Provide emergency and breakdown repair support as needed.
• Participate in ongoing technical training to stay current with industry advancements.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of refrigeration, diesel, or transportation equipment repair experience.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical work in a shop environment.

• EPA Section 608 Certification.
• Carrier Transicold or Thermo King certification or Cargo Bull S.CU Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs)
• Experience with trailer refrigeration systems and trailer maintenance.
• CDL (Commercial Driver's License) or ability to obtain one.
• ASE certifications related to diesel or refrigeration systems.

• Knowledge of refrigeration principles and diesel-powered refrigeration systems.
• Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.

• Work performed primarily in a shop environment with occasional outdoor work.
• Exposure to changing weather conditions, noise, machinery, and vehicle exhaust.
• Frequent standing, bending, climbing, lifting, and use of hand and power tools.
• Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on business needs.
