Job Description
This position is responsible for maintaining facilities in safe operating condition; assisting with a wide variety of skilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, concrete, landscaping, painting, etc.); addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; performing specific skilled duties that are pertinent to the completion of diverse projects; ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

Job Tasks Descriptions
- Frequency - % of Time
- Performs a variety of landscaping activities (e.g. mowing, planting, spraying weeds, fertilizing, raking leaves, etc.) to maintain school grounds, playgrounds and athletic fields.
- D - 50% - Prepares, transports materials, and tears down for special events (e.g. graduation, sporting events, district programs, etc.).
- Q - 5% - Operates and maintains heavy equipment to assist with the completion of assigned maintenance projects.
- W - 5% - Removes snow and ice at school facilities to ensure the parking lots and sidewalks are safe for vehicles, staff, students, and other personnel.
- M - 10% - Prepares documentation (e.g. work orders, list of chemicals applied, spreadsheets) to provide written support and/or conveying information.
- D - 5% - Assists with the installation of a variety of objects and systems (e.g. playground equipment, chain link fence, snow fence, traffic signs and poles, traffic control barriers, concrete, slope paving, drain pans, concrete flumes, etc.) to establish positive drainage and maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
- D - 2% - Maintains tools and/or equipment (e.g. mowers, tractors, tools, implements, etc.) to ensure the availability of equipment in a safe operating condition.
- D - 3% - Performs specific skilled duties (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, recycling, moving schools, fabricating, and installing signs, completing specific tasks, etc.) to complete projects in a safe, efficient manner.
- D - 15% - Performs a variety of maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, graffiti removal, etc.) to complete projects within established time frames.
- W - 3% - Responds emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- M - 1% - Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Related
Work Experience:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required
- No experience required, but 1-year experience in grounds maintenance or construction, preferred
Licenses, Registrations or
Certifications:
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Valid state issued Driver's License, required
- Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by the conclusion of the district-provided training course
- Pesticide Applicators License, preferred, but not required

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate/required safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge:
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.
