Lead Carpenter
This role leads carpentry work on a large data center project, focusing on building temporary structures and supporting form setters during foundation and structural phases of construction. You will apply advanced carpentry skills on a high-profile commercial project, working with concrete forms, temporary protections, and metal and wood framing in a fast-paced field environment.
Responsibilities- Build and install temporary structures, including temporary rails, temporary walls, temporary stairs, and other safety carpentry elements to protect workers and equipment.
- Assist form setters in all phases of concrete work, including layout, assembly, and installation of grade beams, slab-on-grade forms, grade beam footings, columns, and plywood formwork.
- Install and adjust Gates form systems and other formwork systems to meet project specifications and safety standards.
- Perform rough and finish carpentry tasks on large commercial projects, including framing, trim work, and installation of doors, partitions, and related components.
- Work with metal stud and metal framing systems, including layout, cutting, fastening, and alignment to blueprint specifications.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and construction documents to ensure accurate layout and installation.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for cutting, fastening, measuring, and assembling materials.
- Measure and mark materials using a tape measure and other layout tools to ensure precise cuts and installations.
- Install drywall and related systems as needed, coordinating with other trades and maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with crews ranging from 5 to 30 people, coordinating tasks and communicating effectively with supervisors and teammates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all site safety requirements and procedures.
- Report progress, issues, and material needs to on-site supervision to keep work on schedule and within scope.
- 5+ years of experience as a form carpenter on commercial construction projects.
- Strong background in large commercial projects and experience working on all phases of commercial construction.
- Proficiency in building temporary protections and safety carpentry, including temporary rails, walls, and stairs.
- Hands-on experience with grade beams, slab-on-grade work, grade beam footings, columns, and plywood formwork.
- Experience working with Gates form systems or similar concrete form systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Proficient use of hand tools and power tools, including saws, drills, and fastening tools.
- Competence in rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and trim work.
- Experience with metal studs and metal framing in new construction environments.
- Ability to accurately measure and lay out work using a tape measure and other layout tools.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work 40–60 hours per week, including overtime as needed.
- Ability to bring and use personal steel-toed boots on site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Safety certifications are preferred but not required.
- Experience with drywall installation and related finishing work.
- Experience in both new construction and large-scale commercial projects.
- Comfort working in crews of varying sizes and following direction from on-site supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

WorkEnvironment
You will work on a large data center construction site, primarily focused on foundation and structural phases. The project is in an active commercial construction environment, with crews ranging from 5 to 30 people. The schedule typically ranges from 40 to 60 hours per week, with Sundays off, and offers significant overtime. You will report to on-site supervision and coordinate closely with other carpenters and trades.
The work involves extensive use of hand tools and power tools, working with concrete form systems, metal and wood framing, and temporary protection structures. Conditions are those of a large outdoor and partially enclosed jobsite, with varying weather and typical construction site noise and activity. A per diem of $100 per day worked is available when traveling more than 75 miles from your home address.
Steel-toed boots are required as part of the dress code, and additional personal protective equipment is provided or required according to site safety standards.
