The Multimedia Technician II provides reliable, safe, and high-quality audiovisual (A/V) systems and support for K–12 instructional environments, district meetings, events, and facilities. This position designs, installs, programs, maintains, and troubleshoots A/V and related low-voltage systems; supports district-wide multimedia operations; maintains records and inventory; and coordinates with internal teams and external vendors to ensure systems are functional, scalable, and cost-effective.

Multimedia Technician II Purpose Statement

The Multimedia Technician II provides reliable, safe, and high-quality audiovisual (A/V) systems and support for K–12 instructional environments, district meetings, events, and facilities. This position designs, installs, programs, maintains, and troubleshoots A/V and related low-voltage systems; supports district-wide multimedia operations; maintains records and inventory; and coordinates with internal teams and external vendors to ensure systems are functional, scalable, and cost-effective.

Essential Functions
  • Supports district A/V needs by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting multimedia systems for instruction, conferences, special events, board meetings, and other district activities in venues such as auditoriums, stadiums, gyms, and meeting spaces (e.g., audio mixers, wired/wireless microphones, projectors, interactive displays, cameras), for the purpose of ensuring dependable audio/video performance and timely user support.
  • Prepares, deploys, and retrieves multimedia equipment and materials (e.g., microphones, speakers, mixers, projectors, cameras, displays, cabling, accessories), for the purpose of ensuring requested equipment is delivered on time and in proper working condition.
  • Monitors the multimedia incident/ticket queue and provides technical support for issues of varying complexity, for the purpose of restoring services quickly, reducing repeat incidents, and maintaining consistent system uptime and customer service.
  • Maintains site‑based bell/intercom/clock systems, including hardware upkeep, bell schedule creation/loading, troubleshooting, and time synchronization of master and secondary clocks, for the purpose of ensuring reliable school‑wide communications and accurate timekeeping.
  • Provides classroom and presentation support by verifying that A/V systems (including but not limited to projectors, interactive displays, control systems, sound reinforcement, document cameras, and web cameras) are installed, configured, and functioning, for the purpose of enabling instruction and presentations with minimal disruption.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and functional checks on multimedia equipment and infrastructure, for the purpose of extending equipment life, reducing downtime, and maintaining high‑quality audio/video performance.
  • Programs, configures, and maintains advanced presentation and conferencing technologies (e.g., control processors, audio DSPs, touch panels, digital signage platforms), including logic updates, TCP/IP/network addressing, and firmware upgrades, for the purpose of keeping systems secure, current, and operationally consistent across district sites.
  • Installs and supports analog and digital A/V infrastructure, including pulling and terminating Cat‑5/Cat‑6 cabling; installing A/V control systems; securely mounting racks and components; and deploying displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and related devices for the purpose of delivering safe, standards‑aligned, and reliable A/V system installations.
