Job Duties and Responsibilities

This Software Engineering position, requiring 3–6 years of work experience, operates within a Video Delivery & Operations team. The primary responsibility is to document, develop, deploy, and maintain custom in-house software essential for the broadcast center teams, including the satellite operation center. Focus is on maximizing reliability, security, consistency, scalability, and performance. Additional duties include providing software support to operations and engineering teams, evaluating third‑party software requests, assisting with projects, escalating mission‑impacting issues, and acting as backup engineer for critical systems.
The role is available in Cheyenne, WY or Gilbert, AZ.
- Document, develop, deploy, and maintain reliable and efficient code using C#, Java, Erlang, Elixir, VB, ASP.NET, JavaScript, Python, Power Shell, and other scripting languages
- Build client GUI, console, service, and web applications to support real‑time operations in a multi‑user environment
- Develop solutions in a mixed Windows/Linux environment
- Design, implement, and maintain SQL databases
- Provide support to Broadcast Operations and Engineering teams
- Communicate with team regarding new and ongoing projects and issues
- Participate in 24×7 rotating on‑call schedule to cover support requirements outside normal business hours
- Collaborate with senior team members on development projects
- Participate in code and documentation reviews
- Identify new tools, methods, and processes to improve team communication and efficiency
- Support end‑to‑end systems integration and regression testing
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather and build requirements and acquire business knowledge
- Work in a high‑stress environment in a cohesive group setting; possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and adhere to policies and procedures
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college in computer science or related field, plus 3–6 years of software engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to access to U.S. export‑restricted materials
- Spacecraft operations experience preferred
- Experience with client/server web application development of RESTful APIs using .NET, Java, or Elixir
- Experience using IntelliJ, Visual Studio, Git, Git Lab, and NuGet development tools
- Microsoft SQL and MySQL database design and maintenance
- Monitor system health and performance through standard and custom tools and processes
- Respond to system anomalies, trouble tickets, and user requests
- Ability to support a rotating on‑call schedule to provide 24×7 coverage for critical mission operations
- Read and comprehend business periodicals, technical procedures, or government policies
- Communicate effectively through written and verbal reports and correspondence
- Respond to questions from peers, managers, and customers
- Possess a working knowledge of standard office productivity tools
- Knowledge of computer networking and communications systems principles
- Ability to employ basic troubleshooting principles to identify and resolve issues
- Solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in dynamic and stressful situations
- Interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, verbal, schematic, or schedule form
- Ability to work in small teams and adapt to changing priorities
- Dedicated workspace adjacent to a 24×7 operations center and equipment data center with potential exposure to electrical shock, radiation, vibration, and computer noise; typical business hours M‑F, but must support off‑hour, weekend, and holiday duties as required by a 24×7 operation; up to 10% travel

Salary RangesCompensation: $83,160.00 per year – $ per year.
