GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Join the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) as a Temporary Roadway Evaluation Technician in Cheyenne, Wyoming! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Learns traffic control methods, manuals, and procedures

* Works safely around equipment in the work zone

* Assists in the setup, maintenance, and removal of traffic control under live traffic conditions

* Performs traffic control duties (flagging) to ensure the safety of the crew

* Cleans, maintains, and assists in the repair of test equipment

* Observe and learn the process for equipment maintenance

* Provides the traveling public a safe direction through a work zone

* Loads sample trucks

* Learns how to clean, vacuum, grease, and oil equipment without damaging or knocking it out of calibration

* Performs various tasks such as keeping records, filing, and working with Excel spreadsheets

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to those with a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE:

* Knowledge of equipment operation and basic maintenance

* Knowledge of mechanical devices

* Knowledge of basic computer operation

* Ability to learn and understand the scope and importance of public and worker safety on the roadway

* Ability to get along with co-workers

* Ability to perform monotonous daily duties with accuracy

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Extensive in-state and occasional out-of-state travel is required

* Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and be on feet for long periods
