SALARY: $37,219 to $44,663 Annually

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

To perform sanitation collection services for commercial and residential accounts for the city; and to perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities on sanitation heavy equipment, transfer station or City of Cheyenne grounds.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform sanitation collection services for City commercial and residential accounts.
• Perform minor maintenance activities on sanitation heavy equipment; clean sanitation equipment; clean and maintain dumpster yard.
• Perform work activities according to safe work practices and procedures.
• Clean, maintain and control litter around containment areas, Transfer Station, and throughout the City of Cheyenne.
• Assist in operating sanitation collection equipment.
• Assist route driver with daily pre/post and sanitation equipment maintenance.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Wear designated PPE when required - Hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Operate Flatbed truck to deliver, repair, replace or pickup garbage containers.
• Utilize Fleetmind system during collection process.

• Report any safety issues to supervisor and/or Safety Coordinator.
• Greet, inspect loads, and direct traffic of customers that visit the Transfer Station.
• Help promote safe working practices and encourage others to follow safety policies.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of sanitation collection services.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Ability to perform sanitation services for commercial and residential accounts for the city.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, or local laws, regulations, or ordinances.
• Knowledge of city streets layout.
• Ability to Perform minor maintenance activities on sanitation heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions (Rain, Snow, freezing temperatures, Sunny, Windy Etc.) during their shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Preferred:

High school diploma or GED.

Two (2) years' work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain the physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds.

Working Environment:

Travel from site to site; field environment; exposure to noise, dust, smoke, fumes, gases, infectious materials, and inclement weather conditions; work around heavy sanitation
