Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Dockworker to join the OD Family. This role is vital to ensuring the safe, efficient loading and unloading of freight, supporting overall warehouse and material handling operations, and upholding our promise of delivering customer freight accurately and on time.
Job SummaryThe dockworker must efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring that the correct items are placed on the right trucks. Safety is paramount; dock workers use equipment such as forklifts and manual techniques to handle materials, secure freight with airbags, cardboard, straps, and other tools to prevent damage during transport.
Primary Responsibilities- Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack, or manually in compliance with state and federal DOT guidelines, employing techniques such as tight or cross loading.
- Transport self and/or freight continuously throughout the service center on non‑forgiving surfaces.
- Utilize Dock Yard Management System to consistently monitor freight shipment locations.
- Read and interpret shipping labels and complete related forms such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, overage/damage movement reports, and exception forms.
- Hand‑load, rewrap, or stack freight as necessary.
- Ensure quality loading of all trailers.
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, rope).
- Maintain frequent contact with service center personnel; work fast‑paced and deadline‑oriented.

- High school degree or equivalent
- Working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
- Knowledge of all aspects of freight transportation.
- Familiarity with loading techniques such as tight and cross loading.
- Ability to complete freight movement forms and use the dock yard management system.
- Availability to work at all times to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
- Proficiency in using handheld tablets when required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Stand or walk on non‑forgiving surfaces for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Sit on a forklift for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Lift and handle objects weighing up to 100 lbs. using OSHA‑approved techniques.
- Climb onto and off of forklifts and maneuver in tight spaces.
- Operate forklifts and related equipment safely in various weather conditions.
- Attend all assigned shifts; shifts may occur in AM or PM.
