Sr Logistics Specialist

The Senior Logistics Specialist is a member of the Logistics Team which is a collaborative, people-focused team! The Specialist promotes a safe working environment, manages material flow in and out of the plant, works closely with the 3PL warehouse, ensures inventory accuracy, and address near‑term storage requirements.

The Chicago 71st street facility manufactures catalysts used in petroleum refining and specialty petrochemical industries for removing sulfur, nitrogen, and other impurities from crude oil streams.

This role is on‑site at 4099 West 71st Street, Chicago, Illinois and reports to the Logistics Supervisor.

• Manages the ordering process for raw materials, packaging, tank farm supplies, and traded goods to ensure timely availability.
• Oversees the receipts process for raw materials and trading goods, including managing work cycles and SAP transactions to support third‑party logistics (3PL) operations.
• Ensure inventory is accurate through effective cycle count management and necessary adjustments to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Work closely with 3PL warehouses and tollers to provide work instructions, approve lots for shipping, and offer any required support.
• Collaborate with the quality department to manage inventory effectively and ensuring compliance with our Quality Assurance standards.
• Engage and collaborate with cross functional corporate roles to align on plant capabilities and execute the supply plan efficiently.
• Oversee services related to trailer rentals, repairs, waste management, and propane supply to ensure operational efficiency.
• Manage hazmat satellite storage reporting and compliance to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of logistics experience
• Demonstrated experience with SAP

• Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel‑toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

• Experience in an ever‑changing production environment, requiring flexibility and resilience.
• Demonstrated experience being self‑directed, demonstrating a robust work ethic, working independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience using computer skills and analytical abilities to effectively resolve problems in Excel.
• Experience at a proficient level in SAP managing materials and inventory processes.
• Experience analyzing and managing large data sets which inform decision‑making and improve efficiency.
• Experience leading a collaborative and friendly workplace culture, fostering teamwork and open communication.
• Experience leveraging interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
