Guest Service Representative Part-Time About the Adler Planetarium
The Adler Planetarium connects people to the universe and each other. Whether it is introducing a guest to the Ring Nebula, a neighborhood school to a community partner, a research team to a network of citizen scientists, or one staff member to another, the Adler's focus on meaningful connections dates back nearly a century.

ThePosition
The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Guest Service Representative to join our dynamic team located on Chicago's Museum Campus. This position fulfills multiple responsibilities: gate attending at the main box office and theaters; ticket sales at the accessible entrance; group processing; and orientation. This individual will also be responsible for:
- Greet guests with a friendly demeanor and verify tickets, discounts, and admission eligibility.
- Orienting groups on buses during intake and assisting with departure. Organizing and managing lunch space. Greeting and orienting groups to Planet Explorers and enforcing rules.
- Verifying and selling tickets at theaters, ushering guests, organizing seating, and ensuring guest safety.
- Redeem and sell tickets accurately, conducting transactions.
- Provide exceptional customer service to those contacting the museum.
- Set up and display signage indoors and outdoors.
The typical work schedule for this position is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and Sundays or Mondays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The Compensation & Benefits (Part-Time)Base Pay Range: $17.50/hr – $18.39/hr
Work-Life Balance- 7 to 25‑hour workweek.
- Eligible to accrue up to 6 vacation days per year.
- 3 sick days as of date of hire (can accrue up to 6.5 days per year).
- Eligible to earn time and a half for working on any of the 7 Adler observed holidays.

The Person

A person who thinks quickly on their feet and is comfortable interacting with a highly diverse population. This person will need to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
This person has excellent customer service and communication skills and is a creative thinker.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.
- One year of experience in a guest‑facing role with cash handling responsibilities.
- Basic knowledge of service and ticketing systems.
- Basic knowledge of G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic understanding of the Museum Campus and local attractions.
- One year of experience working in high‑volume tourist attractions with cash handling responsibilities.
- Basic knowledge of the Gateway Galaxy Ticketing System.
- Intermediate understanding of the Museum Campus and local attractions.
