Position Overview

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a motivated and skilled candidate to serve as the Behavioral Interventionist Administrator at IYC Chicago. The ideal candidate for this position will possess previous experience with staff supervision and coaching and staff training and professional development. The incumbent in this position will develop and implement targeted academic interventions to address significant learning deficits and utilize data-driven strategies and evidence-based practices to support student achievement and growth.

The incumbent will also monitor student progress and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective academic and behavioral support, promote student growth, and enhance school-wide outcomes. We encourage all interested and qualified individuals to apply!

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, valid certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst-D (BCBA-D) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or its successor.
  • One year of professional experience in applied behavior analysis or completion of the agency-sponsored Behavior Analyst Associate program.

Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and implements targeted behavioral interventions for students with significant behavior issues, based on current research strategies. Utilizes Functional Behavioral Assessments and other relevant data to develop interventions.
  • Monitors student progress and conducts regular behavioral progress monitoring to support student growth and improve behavioral outcomes.
  • Conducts functional behavioral assessments, and environmental and classroom assessments/checklists as needed to inform instructional planning, monitor intervention effectiveness, and support data-driven decision-making for student success.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and documentation of behavior intervention strategies to promote positive student behavior and ensure compliance with best practices and district procedures.
  • Develops, evaluates, and enhances district-wide behavioral systems to promote consistency, equity, and effectiveness in behavior management and disciplinary practices.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and provides targeted training to build staff capacity in behavior analysis, classroom management, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
  • Two years of experience with staff supervision and coaching.
  • Two years of experience with developing and implementing staff training and professional development.
  • Two years of evidence of exceptional skills in communication, interpersonal relationships, and conflict resolution.
  • Two years of experience delivering services within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS).
