Pets Best, a subsidiary of IPH, seeks a Payroll Staff Accountant to manage a broad range of responsibilities, including accounting, reporting, analysis, reconciliation, and auditing of payroll, benefits, and equity data across multiple legal entities and countries. This role supports the Director of Payroll Operations by assisting with business-facing projects and reviews. The Payroll Analyst will help maintain GL and Cost Center Mapping within Workday and Microsoft Dynamics, while also facilitating payroll record collection and retention for several legal entities.

- Reviews and audits payroll transactions at the company, employee, and general ledger level each pay cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepares financial approval workbooks for each pay group, including variance analysis and documentation for internal audits.
- Audits and reconciles payroll-related accounts, including tax, unemployment liability, earnings, deductions, benefits, reimbursements, and general ledger mapping across multiple legal entities.
- Prepares and reconciles payroll journal entries, accruals, and month-over-month analysis for multiple entities.
- Completes quarterly reconciliation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Workday, maintaining cost center and entity-level employee data.
- Handles correspondence and registrations with federal, state, and local unemployment and revenue agencies for multiple entities.
- Supports internal and external audits, including workers’ compensation, retirement plans, tax filings, and related documentation.
- Manages employee retirement contributions and loan payments, ensuring timely reconciliation and accuracy.
- Prepares supporting documentation and reports for payroll, payroll tax returns, benefits, cost centers, and bonus plans.
- Participates in company initiatives, including software implementations, process upgrades, and special projects.
- Cross-trains to support payroll teammates with employee correspondence and triage.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience:
3 years’ relevant experience - Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college)
