A well-established public accounting firm in the Chicago suburbs that is hiring a Tax Resolution Specialist to join their team. This person will handle federal and state tax notices for clients, work directly with tax authorities, and support the internal tax team to ensure timely and accurate resolutions.

• Review and analyze IRS and state notices
• Draft written responses and gather supporting documentation
• Work directly with clients to collect info
• Communicate with IRS and state agencies by phone or correspondence
• Track notice statuses and keep internal records updated
• Help improve notice processes and support internal training
• Assist with collections, appeals and audit related matters

• 3+ years of tax experience (public accounting preferred)
• Strong understanding of IRS and state procedures
• Ability to review common tax forms (1040, 1065, 1120, 1041, 709, etc.)
• Experience with IRS e-Services/TDS
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Comfortable managing multiple notices at once
• Hybrid schedule (Chicago suburbs)
