The role is located in Chicago, IL. Payroll ranges: $30.00/hr – $33.00/hr (base pay). You may see an annual salary range of $68,000–$80,000, but the primary compensation is hourly.

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant performs a variety of professional accounting duties such as monitoring general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, preparing and updating financial statements/reports, analyzing revenues and expenditures, performing variance analysis, conducting special projects, and serving as a resource for complex accounting problems. • Prepare Microsoft Excel and/or accounting‑software‑system generated financial statements and reports; conduct variance analysis.
• Facilitate monthly close procedures, including journal entries, financial statements, and other reports; conduct detailed balance‑sheet and reconciliation analysis.
• Ensure accounting transactions are properly classified in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations/audit work papers and resolve outstanding issues.
• Coordinate with external auditors, explaining accounting practices and preparing requested materials.
• Perform bank account reconciliations for various bank accounts.
• Ensure PMM inventory supply issues are recorded by cost center and department.
• Serve as a resource person for other accountants and managers within and outside the Finance Department.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent education and experience.
• Previous experience with Peoplesoft, Oracle Cloud, Net Suite, or other accounting‑software systems.
• Experience in an accounting/finance setting (healthcare setting preferred).
• Knowledge of computerized spreadsheets and PC skills.
• Analytical skills necessary to solve complex accounting problems.
• Ability to perform detailed variance review and financial analysis.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication with management and support staff.
• Project management ability with limited supervision.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
