Job Title: Tax Manager – Public Accounting
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)
Job Type: Full-Time (Permanent / Direct Hire)
Pay: $115,000 – $150,000 per year (Based on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Hybrid work model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Position Overview:
The Tax Manager will be responsible for leading multiple client tax engagements, providing expert guidance on business and corporate tax matters, and mentoring junior team members. This role is ideal for a CPA with a strong public accounting background who enjoys client interaction, problem-solving, and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple client tax engagements from planning through completion
- Provide expert advice on business and corporate tax matters
- Develop and implement effective tax strategies and actionable recommendations
- Build, maintain, and grow strong client relationships
- Resolve complex tax issues using a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
- Utilize tax technology and automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Review work prepared by staff and provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting – Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field – Required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – Required
- Currently working in (or recent experience with) public accounting – Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
- Experience with tax automation and technology tools
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship abilities
