Role OverviewBench Prep is looking for a hardworking, ambitious Staff/Senior Accountant to support its growing operations. This role reports to the Controller and will play a pivotal part in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, analyzing data, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Manage the accounting function, including account reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
- Analyze and review company expenditures, confirming proper allocation of expenses to departments.
- Ensure transactions are in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Analyze billing transactions to ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Review general ledger accounts and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
- Assist in building financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position.
- Perform budget variance analysis and assist in designing budgets for management review.
- Prepare year‑end schedules for the annual tax returns.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
- 3–5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5–8 years (Senior Accountant) in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems (Net Suite, Intacct, Quick Books, etc.).
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑starter, quick learner, and capacity to multitask.
- Team player with a positive attitude toward contributing and learning.

CompensationThe salary range for this position is $65,000–$85,000, based on Chicago market data.
