Accountant, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst

Overview

Position: Accountant
Location: Hybrid in Chicago, IL
Pay: $38.94 per hour

We are seeking a highly skilled accounting professional to perform advanced financial analysis and reporting. This role involves preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and year-to-date financial statements for subsidiary companies, while assisting with parent company reporting. You will serve as a key resource for complex inquiries, troubleshooting unusual cases, and partnering across departments (Actuarial, Cost Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal) to ensure accurate external reporting.

Additionally, you will contribute to automation initiatives and process improvements from an accounting perspective.

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and YTD financial statements for subsidiaries; assist with parent company statements.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues and escalated inquiries.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
• Support automation projects and provide accounting input for process enhancements.
• Act as point of contact for ad-hoc inquiries related to financial statements.
• Coordinate audits with Corporate Governance, Internal Audit, and external auditors (e.g., E&Y).
• Respond to inquiries from regulators and ensure compliance with MAR updates.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years of accounting experience;
  OR 6+ years of accounting experience.

Technical

Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret financial reports and apply accounting principles.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
