Vaco has partnered with a client in the legal industry in Chicago to fill a Billing Specialist position. This role requires one year of experience and supports a client-focused environment, ensuring accurate and timely billing while maintaining system integrity.
Job type: full time
Pay: $32.97/hour – $41.21/hour (based on experience, education, and skill level)
Expected hours: 38-40 hours per week
Physical setting: office

Monday to Friday
Experience:
At least one year of general accounting or billing experience; legal billing and electronic billing experience preferred
Work location:
In office for first 90 days; then hybrid schedule
- Prepare, review, and edit client pre-bills
- Ensure accuracy and timely distribution of final invoices
- Process write-offs and write-downs with appropriate approvals
- Maintain accurate billing system data
- Respond to attorney inquiries regarding bills and billing procedures
- Follow established billing cycles and cut-off deadlines
- Ensure compliance with internal billing policies
- Work independently while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Assist with basic financial analysis, including reviewing client billing histories
- Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of one year of general accounting or legal billing experience; legal billing and electronic billing experience preferred
- Experience with specialized accounting or billing software preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in spreadsheet applications, including Excel
- High attention to detail and strong numerical aptitude
