Peakline Real Estate Funds, LLC (“PREF”), the real estate arm of Peakline, manages a $3.6 billion real estate portfolio and is currently sponsoring six development funds. Formed in 2018, PREF owns and operates approximately 17+ million SF of multifamily, logistics, and mixed-use properties throughout the US. PREF’s partners are nationally known leaders in finance, real estate, private equity, and wealth management.
PREF is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. The position will be based out of the company’s headquarters in Chicago, IL and is in office four days per week. The position will report directly to the Director of Accounting and offers the opportunity to gain direct exposure to fund accounting, financial and audit reporting, and real estate property as well as broad exposure to tax, treasury, audit and operational finance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and a desire to develop expertise in real estate investments. Prior real estate and tax experience is helpful but not required, as the role will provide exposure to and training in those areas when and where appropriate.
Job Responsibilities
- Support quarterly and annual financial reporting for multiple private real estate investment funds, including the review of general ledgers, trial balances, financial statements, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with underlying joint venture partners to review property financials and help assess liquidity; utilize this information to assist with fund-level cash flow forecasts and support liquidity and cash management decisions
- Coordinate audit support requests, organize documentation for external auditors, and review audit work papers to support the timely completion of annual financial statement audits
- Support the day-to-day relationship with the fund administrator by coordinating information requests, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of accounting, financial reporting, and investor reporting activities
- Support tax reporting activities by reviewing federal and state partnership tax returns, Schedule K-1s, and related tax work papers
- Assist with treasury management activities, including preparing wire transfers, monitoring cash balances, forecasting liquidity needs, and supporting cash management across the funds
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Asset Management, Acquisitions, and Investor Relations, to support fund operations, financial reporting, and other accounting initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting and reporting processes, including leveraging emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant accounting experience; real estate experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, core accounting principles and financial reporting; partnership tax exposure is a plus
