Staff Accountant

Bee Line is looking for a sharp, hands-on Staff Accountant to join our Chicago accounting team, working on-site with our accounting leadership and Contracts Officer. You'll be in the numbers every day: supporting the month-end close, preparing reconciliations and journal entries, running AP, AR, and invoicing, and helping price new business. • Support month-end, quarterly, and year-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
• Prepare bank and balance sheet account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation
• Process customer invoicing and track accounts receivable and collections
• Process vendor invoices and assist with vendor payments (AP)
• Assist with payroll accounting, including payroll uploads and trend review
• Help manage prepaid expenses and fixed asset schedules
• Research and resolve billing and accounting discrepancies
• Contribute to GAAP-compliant financial statements and help with variance analysis

• Learn our ERP and accounting systems and help improve processes and controls
• Build toward greater ownership of the close and financial reporting over time

• 3+ years of accounting experience (staff accountant, senior accountant, or strong bookkeeper with accounting depth)
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
• Solid experience with AP, AR, and invoicing
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Strong Excel skills (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements, Pivot Tables, linking worksheets, and reviewing existing formulas)
• Exceptional attention to detail: you check your work, catch errors, and question numbers that don't make sense
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
• Comfort learning new systems and stepping into an existing ERP quickly
• Strong communication and follow-through
• Ability to work on-site at our Chicago office full time (this position is not remote or hybrid)

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience in a service-based, multi-site, or contract-driven business
• Payroll accounting experience
• Experience with pricing, bid, or cost-model work (a plus, not required)
