Accounts Payable Manager

A growing organization is looking to add an AP Manager to its Chicago-based accounting team. This person will oversee the Accounts Payable function, manage a team, and help improve the efficiency and accuracy of the department.

* Must have experience managing others as well as high volume invoice processing experience

• Manage and support the Accounts Payable team
• Assign workloads, establish priorities, and ensure deadlines are met
• Oversee the daily AP process and help resolve escalated issues
• Review month-end AP activity and support accurate close
• Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and payment questions
• Assist with vendor onboarding and account maintenance
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency
• Develop and maintain AP procedures and documentation
• Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of AP activity
• Partner with other departments on accounting and payment-related matters

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience with a strong background in Accounts Payable
• Previous experience managing or supervising AP employees
• Experience working in a high-volume AP environment
• Strong understanding of AP processes and month-end activities
• Experience with reconciliations, accruals, and invoice/payment issues
• Demonstrated experience improving AP processes or workflows
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills
• Experience with an ERP system; SAP is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
