Bookkeeping Specialist

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented bookkeeping specialist to support payroll, compliance, and day-to-day financial operations for a growing organization in Chicago, Illinois. This is a long-term contract opportunity suited for someone who can balance bookkeeping duties with administrative and onboarding support in a fast-moving environment. The role will contribute to payroll processing, benefits coordination, and financial accuracy while helping the team stay aligned with multi-state employment requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage recurring payroll cycles for W-2 employees on a biweekly basis and support weekly payments for contractor populations with a high level of accuracy.
• Maintain bookkeeping records in Quick Books, including routine transaction entry, account balancing, and financial record organization.
• Oversee accounts payable activities by reviewing recurring charges, confirming payment accuracy, and ensuring obligations are paid on time.
• Support accounts receivable tasks as needed, including tracking incoming payments and keeping records current.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and maintain reliable financial reporting.
• Assist with employee onboarding coordination and help maintain documentation required for employment and benefits administration.
• Contribute to compliance-related processes as the organization expands operations across additional states, including payroll and benefits setup support.
• Provide administrative assistance across office operations when needed to help maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
