, is urgently seeking a contract Legal Assistant for an on-site assignment in Chicago, IL.
Start Date: January 5th, 2026
Location: Hybrid on-site (3 days per week) in downtown Chicago
Pay Rate: $30–35 per hour
The role:As a Legal Assistant, you will support our client's investigators by completing the following tasks:
- Intake & triage:
Case creation, logging, document intake, call handling, case categorization, routing, acknowledgment communications, checklist completion, deadline scheduling. - Evidence Collection & Preservation:
Document/Evidence logging, file organization, sending follow-up requests, collecting evidence, basic document tagging, legal holds and releases, data destruction, discovery requests. - Interview Support:
Interview scheduling, Note taking, Transcript preparation, Recording management, Interview logistics, Participant coordination. - Low level investigations:
These would be low level investigations of low risk, typically resulting in simple policy reminder—still require basic review, case logging, and closeout; may require minimal interaction with the reporter or subject. - Compliance monitoring:
Reminder distribution, status update communications, regular progress updates, action tracking, recurring report generation, deadline monitoring, template maintenance. - Cross-functional:
Policy distribution, knowledge base maintenance, roster maintenance, recurring meeting coordination, template maintenance, data extraction, account set‑up, and investigations (surge staffing for simple investigations, resolving ‘low risk’ concerns). - Administrative:
Time tracking, expense processing, vendor coordination, on‑call logistics, training logistics, tooling access management, access/license/certification tracking and provisioning.
- 1+ years of experience in an administration, legal operations or general operations support position, ideally in a corporate/professional services environment.
- Ability to follow playbooks, and spot improvements where relevant.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders and willingness to problem solve collaboratively.
