Business Development Manager – CBRE
OverviewCBRE’s Energy Procurement Services team, part of the CBRE Energy and Renewables Group, brokering energy supply contracts and developing customized procurement strategies. We simplify complex energy markets to help clients save money, reduce risk, improve budget accuracy, and cut emissions.
What You’ll Do- Conduct proactive outreach to prospective clients through cold calling, email campaigns, and Linked In engagement; develop and execute targeted outreach strategies to generate qualified leads.
- Identify and research potential clients across commercial and industrial sectors, analyze energy consumption patterns and utility territories, and build prioritized target account lists.
- Qualify inbound leads and referrals, leading discovery conversations to understand client needs and assess opportunity fit.
- Manage early stages of client engagements, including needs assessment, preliminary pricing analysis, and proposal coordination; support deal progression by gathering utility data and preparing client materials.
- Track and maintain accurate pipeline data in CRM, update opportunity stages, forecast deal closures, and report on sales activities.
- Monitor energy market trends, pricing dynamics, and competitive landscapes; provide intelligence to inform outreach strategies.
- Prepare and deliver initial client presentations explaining energy procurement services and value propositions.
- Coordinate with energy analysts, operations team, and senior sales professionals to ensure seamless communication and handoffs throughout the sales process.
- Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management.
- Proven cold‑calling and outbound sales track record.
- Strong prospecting skills and ability to qualify sales opportunities.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce or similar) for pipeline management.
- Self‑motivated work style, capable of independent work and meeting activity targets.
- Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple prospects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with deregulated energy markets, energy procurement, or sustainability is preferred.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Base salary $130,000 – $160,000 annually; discretionary bonus eligibility; benefits include 401(K), dental, health, life, and vision insurance.
Location & TravelMetro NYC, Buffalo, Remote considered. Travel requirement up to 20%.
