This 10-week paid internship can be in Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX.

• The Underwriting Intern position is responsible for learning various underwriting principles and procedures including how to evaluate risk for renewals and new business for employer sponsored healthcare.
• This role will also be responsible for assisting in financial analysis around benefit designs for customers, reporting and collaborating with sales & account management teams on pricing negotiations, and assisting with completion of financial settlements.
• Interns are responsible for actively participating in HCSC's formal internship program that leverages your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while providing meaningful experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas, the Intern will contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs.
• The Intern is responsible for learning and applying specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables.
• This role will also need to:
  Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
• Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
• Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.
• Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree; rising senior with a major in a business-related field. Other majors may be considered.
• Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.

The compensation offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience.

This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to the terms and the conditions of the plan.

Base Pay Range $19.13 - $34.17. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
