About the Role

Youth Treatment Specialists are the core of the Child & Family Treatment Center (CFTC), a 24‑hour residential program for DCFS‑ and ISBE‑referred youth ages 8‑18 experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. In this role, you’ll provide supervision, structure, and daily support to youth living in our residential program. You’ll mentor youth, teach coping and life skills, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to carry out individualized treatment plans.

What

You’ll Do
  • Provide direct supervision and maintain a safe, supportive environment for up to 8 youth.
  • Implement interventions and strategies from individualized treatment plans.
  • Co‑facilitate psycho‑educational and life‑skills groups.
  • Model positive behaviors, communication, and coping skills.
  • Support daily routines, including hygiene, meals, activities, and transportation.
  • Accurately document services to meet Medicaid and licensing standards.
  • Transport youth to school, appointments, and community activities.
Who We’re Looking For Required
  • HS or GED and 0‑1 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience working with youth in similar settings.
  • Experience working with youth and families impacted by trauma.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and trauma‑informed practices.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role located at our Francisco campus at 4833 N Francisco Ave, Chicago, IL 60625.

This work requires safe use of verbal and physical intervention techniques when necessary, exposure to youth with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviors, the ability to obtain and maintain certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), CPR, and First Aid, and the physical ability to kneel and return to standing, and to safely intervene when necessary.
