About the company

Our client is an established design-build general contractor with a national footprint and 850+ completed projects. Because of continued growth, they're adding 2–3 Assistant Project Managers and early-career Project Managers to their Chicagoland office.

The opportunity

This role is for a Project Engineer or APM who is ready for more ownership and a clear path to running their own projects. You'll work on design-build projects from preconstruction through closeout, with direct access to leadership and the chance to grow quickly.

Responsibilities
  • Support and manage ground-up industrial, warehouse, and cold storage projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Manage buyout, subcontracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
  • Build and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Coordinate with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and field teams
  • Work closely with superintendents to keep projects safe, on schedule, and on budget
  • Help with cost tracking, monthly reporting, and pay applications
Qualifications
  • 2–6 years of commercial or industrial general contractor experience as a Project Engineer, APM, or PM
  • Experience with tilt-up, precast, or pre-engineered metal buildings is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Procore (or similar), MS Project, and Microsoft Office
  • Lives in or is willing to relocate to the Chicagoland area
