Nexstar Media Group is seeking a news Graphic Designer to join a dynamic in‑house design team in downtown Chicago, Illinois. This role offers the chance to create broadcast graphics that reach a national audience, working across video, social media, print, and other visual content for a top broadcast network. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in typography and composition, proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects, and able to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.
Requirements- 1‑3 years of experience in broadcast news, local or network level (or comparable design industry).
- High‑level graphic design, typography, and layout skills.
- Advanced Photoshop photo‑manipulation and illustration skills in Illustrator.
- Intermediate to advanced motion graphics experience with After Effects.
- Proficiency in Adobe Express, InDesign, Keynote, PowerPoint, and, ideally, Cinema 4D and Premiere.
- Ability to work on tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Must provide an online portfolio for consideration.
- Undergraduate degree in graphic arts or equivalent experience required.
- Availability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and unconventional hours; holiday work may be required. Hybrid remote hours possible after initial training.
- Create and design daily news graphics for broadcast.
- Translate top news story content quickly into compelling graphic designs.
- Collaborate with editors, producers, and the design team.
- Support additional design work such as photo editing, print design, presentation design, large‑format design, environmental design, projection mapping, web design, social media graphics, photography, video editing, and other marketing/broadcast related projects as needed.
- Maintain brand standards and workflow protocols.
$50,000 - $60,000 annually
LocationChicago, IL – On‑site. Hybrid remote hours available after initial training period.
