Physician – Geriatric Psychiatry (RUMC Downtown) – 23839
Join Rush University Medical Center to serve as a Geriatric Psychiatrist in our Senior Care department. This full‑time, 0.9–1.0 FTE role combines clinical service, scholarly activity, and teaching to advance patient care, education, and research for older adults.
Location & SettingChicago, Illinois – Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized teaching hospital.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and management for patients aged 65+ across outpatient clinics, consultation‑liaison services, and inpatient settings.
- Diagnose and treat complex conditions such as dementia, geriatric depression, anxiety disorders, and psychosis, considering comorbid medical issues.
- Collaborate with neurologists, geriatricians, primary care providers, and neuropsychologists to develop integrated care plans.
- Participate in teaching medical students and psychiatry residents; develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and clinical supervision on geriatric mental illness, pharmacology, and ethical issues.
- Serve as a mentor for trainees interested in geriatric psychiatry.
- Medical degree (M.D., D.O., or equivalent).
- Completed accredited Psychiatry residency.
- Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry preferred.
- Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Current, unrestricted Illinois medical license or eligibility.
Pay range: $240,000–$310,000. Includes base pay, benefits, and incentive programs. Additional compensation (sign‑on, retention bonuses, relocation allowances) may be available based on performance.
