The Pediatrics House Physician is responsible for providing medical care to assigned children from birth to early adulthood in the inpatient and hospital outpatient setting.

• Examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
• Administer immunizations to protect children from diseases such as hepatitis B, diphtheria, polio, measles, and mumps.
• Write orders for the implementation of the plan of care.
• Compile and document all pediatric patient assessments, interventions, and evaluations in the medical record and complete and sign all medical records.
• Work with children’s parents or guardians to teach them how to provide proper care to their children on a regular basis.
• Participate in the hospital’s Risk Management Program and follow all rules and regulations of the program, as well as the hospital’s policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality assurance and utilization review when necessary.
• Respond to all pediatric codes and other emergencies in the hospital and be responsible for the emergency medical management of the patient.

• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Maintain a permanent license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois.
• Strong initiative and good judgment and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to prioritize time‑sensitive assignments.
• CPR and PALS certification.
