Advocate Health is seeking an experienced, visionary Anesthesiologist to serve as Department Chair of Anesthesiology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and our brand-new Ambulatory Surgery Center near Lincoln Park. This is a rare opportunity to shape the next generation of anesthesiology care at a state-of-the-art academic medical center and cutting-edge outpatient facility in one of Chicago s most vibrant neighborhoods.

As Department Chair, you ll provide both clinical and administrative leadership, guiding a talented team of 30 attending physicians, 10 CRNAs, and 32 residents while advancing quality, innovation, and collaboration across Advocate Health.

Notable Duties and Areas of Accountabilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Department of Anesthesiology, ensuring excellence in patient care, safety, and service quality.
  • Maintain a robust quality assurance and peer review program focused on continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration across the department and hospital.
  • Oversee clinical performance, credentialing, and professional development of all anesthesia providers.
  • Partner with hospital and Advocate Health leadership to drive operational efficiency, achieve key performance goals, and support organizational initiatives.
  • Lead departmental education efforts, including oversight of residency and continuing medical education programs.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and workforce development to meet current and future service needs.
  • Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and administrative leaders on strategic planning, capital budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, and regulatory standards.
  • Represent the department on key hospital committees and serve as an advocate for the anesthesiology team within the broader medical community.

Training and/or Experience Required
  • MD/DO with active Illinois license and Board Certification in Anesthesiology
  • Proven leadership and administrative experience
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and team development skills
  • Academic or teaching experience required
