Assistant/Associate/Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology)
Join the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria as a full-time Neonatologist. This position seeks a board‑certified or board‑eligible Neonatologist to provide clinical care and teaching in an academic setting at a 64‑bed Level IV NICU in the OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Key Details- Quaternary Care NICU: 64-bed unit managing various neonatal pathologies, ~700 ICU admissions per year and supporting over 2,300 deliveries annually.
- Level IV NICU: provides ECMO, high‑frequency ventilation, therapeutic hyperthermia, and complex cardiac and neonatal surgical care.
- Collaborative Environment: neonatologists work alongside Advanced Practice Nurses, Neonatal‑Perinatal Fellows, and Residents.
- Education Focus: ample teaching opportunities for students, resident trainees (Pediatric and Medicine‑Pediatric) and Neonatology Fellows.
- Children's Hospital Neonatal Consortium (CHNC): NICU participates in the CHNC Database Network, contributing to outcomes‑based research, clinical trials, and quality improvement projects.
This full‑time role combines comprehensive clinical care with academic responsibilities in a busy, Level IV NICU within Illinois's third largest Children’s Hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide acute and ongoing consultative care to neonatal patients in both hospital and outpatient settings.
- Participate in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department of Pediatrics.
- Engage in collaborative research and scholarly quality improvement activities within the Neonatology Division and the broader Pediatrics Department.
- Fulfill faculty duties including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and mentoring.
- MD/DO or equivalent degree.
- 3 years of residency and 3 years of neonatal‑perinatal fellowship in an ACGME‑accredited program.
- Board certification in Pediatrics required; board‑certified or board‑eligible in Neonatology preferred.
- Eligibility for licensure in Illinois.
- Enthusiasm for clinical care and teaching in an academic environment.
