OVERVIEW
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the senior clinical executive of the IMAN Health Center and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, clinical governance, and oversight of all clinical services and quality initiatives. The CMO ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care while advancing the Health Center’s mission, strategic priorities, and responsibilities as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
This full-time executive leadership position combines administrative and clinical responsibilities, with approximately 60% FTE dedicated to executive and clinical leadership and 40% FTE dedicated to direct patient care. As a member of Health Center leadership, the CMO provides executive oversight of clinical quality, patient safety, provider performance, clinical operations, credentialing and privileging, and regulatory compliance. The CMO works collaboratively with executive leadership, operational leaders, and the Board of Directors to establish clinical strategy, strengthen care delivery systems, improve health outcomes, and ensure compliance with applicable Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), FQHC, federal, state, and other regulatory requirements.
The CMO also maintains an active clinical practice, providing comprehensive primary care and modeling the standards of clinical excellence, professionalism, and compassionate care expected throughout the Health Center.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Responsibilities (40% FTE)- Provides comprehensive outpatient primary care across the lifespan, including preventive care, chronic disease management, acute care, and appropriate follow-up.
- Ensures continuity and coordination of care while maintaining high standards of evidence-based, patient-centered practice.
- Documents patient encounters accurately, thoroughly, and timely within the electronic health record (EHR), consistent with organizational policies, clinical standards, and billing requirements.
- Models clinical excellence, professionalism, and culturally responsive care for providers and clinical staff.
- Maintains all required professional licensure, board certification, credentialing, privileging, and continuing medical education requirements.
- Remains current on emerging clinical guidelines, evidence-based practices, population health priorities, and standards relevant to community health centers and FQHCs.
- Serves as the Health Center's senior clinical leader, providing strategic direction and executive oversight of clinical services, clinical quality, and provider performance.
- Establishes the clinical vision, priorities, and standards of care in alignment with IMAN's mission, Health Center strategic priorities, and the needs of the patient population.
- Partners with executive and Health Center leadership in organizational planning, budgeting, clinical workforce planning, program development, and evaluation of clinical services.
- Provides clinical leadership and oversight to physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health leadership, and other clinical practitioners as appropriate to the Health Center's organizational structure.
