AboutThe Opportunity
The Instructional Assistant will be responsible for the daily operation of his or her classroom in collaboration with the Classroom Teacher. The Instructional Assistant is required to provide high quality instruction in small groups to students, every day, to ensure successful academic outcomes. The classroom environment is supportive and community-based. The Instructional Assistant is also required to cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with students’ families, staff, and other members of the community.
WhatYou’ll Do
As an Instructional Assistant, your critical tasks will include but are not limited to:
Essential Job Functions- Working with the Classroom Teacher to plan classroom instruction
- Monitoring students’ behavior and academic achievement. Assist in establishing expectations for behavior in accordance with school-wide/classroom culture/discipline plan
- Effectively monitoring children outside of the classroom (e.g., recess, lunchroom) while the teacher is occupied
- Intervening appropriately to prevent disruption of the classroom’s instructional process; interacting with students in a supportive way reflecting reciprocal respect
- Effectively planning and executing whole/small group instruction utilizing appropriate student assessments to inform differentiated instruction
- In the absence of the Classroom Teacher, assume classroom responsibilities

- Have a Bachelor’s Degree or 60+ college credits

- Are a current participant in an Instructor Certification Program
- You are bilingual
- Possess 1+ year of classroom experience

Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a valid medical or religious exemption required. Teachers work in a busy environment and may supervise multiple activities simultaneously. Most work is in a general classroom/school environment. Attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings, potentially after school hours, may be required. Physical demands include lifting and carrying, standing, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds for short periods.
