The Teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Chicago. The role involves acting as a representative of the Catholic Church, serving as a role model, and fulfilling various responsibilities aligned with the Church's mission.
The Teacher reports directly to the principal and must adhere to the policies of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the local school. The role involves promoting Catholic education, religious teachings, and the school's mission, as well as participating in religious activities, professional development, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings
- Serve as a role model for religious formation and represent the Church's ministry
- Align with the school's religious and educational mission and policies
- Complete required Catholic identity formation training and professional development
- Lead or participate in religious instruction and activities
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, colleagues, and the principal
- Attend professional development and staff meetings
- Maintain accurate records and a safe, respectful environment
- Participate in performance reviews and school events
- Maintain confidentiality and positive representation of the school
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
- Practicing Catholic (required for religion teachers)
- Compliance with safe environment requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid state licensure (preferred, not mandatory)
- Completion of Catholic identity formation training
Applicants must submit transcripts, resume, licensure (if applicable), references, and other relevant documents. The salary range is $37,000 - $67,000 for lay teachers and $34,000 - $61,000 for religious teachers, based on education, experience, and other factors.
