Overview
Adjunct Instructor – Surgical Technology (Part‑time) at Malcolm X College, City Colleges of Chicago
Duties- Design and teach courses that meet specified learning outcomes and promote active student participation.
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments that demonstrate student learning and attainment of course outcomes.
- Model respectful behavior and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment that values diversity of students and ideas.
- Contribute to the academic and professional development of students and collaborate with colleagues in shared communities.
- Assist students in achieving academic, personal, and career goals.
- Minimum associate degree; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- Graduate of a nationally accredited surgical technology program and possession of a Surgical Technology (CST) credential from a NCCA‑accredited program.
- Minimum two years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as a surgical technology instructor within the past five years.
- Preferred teaching experience at higher‑education or high‑school level.
- Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or a similar LMS preferred.
- Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification strongly preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate with diverse staff and student populations required.
- Experience with a diverse, multi‑lingual student population desired.
Salary Range: $800 – $943 per contact hour (City Colleges salary scale)
