The Instructional Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and developing engaging learning experiences. The individual will help to develop, build and revise a rich library of off‑the‑shelf, instructor‑led, blended, hybrid, and online training products, developed for professionals in banking and financial services. The Instructional Designer works in close collaboration with external subject matter experts and internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Identify instructional strategies that align with instructional goals and anticipated learning outcomes
  • Design end‑to‑end learning solutions such as and not limited to instructor‑led, e‑learning, blended, and hybrid formats that incorporate best practices in adult learning theory and cognitive science
  • Assess course development objectives, customer value, and resource requirements in formulating design strategies
  • Write online courses scripts inclusive of clear learning objectives, true‑to‑life scenarios and challenges, questions, mixed media (audio and video scripting/storyboarding, image selection, gaming elements), printable offline resources and more, ensuring that the course is designed with consideration for learner experience, technology, training efficiency and optimal knowledge acquisition/retention
  • Apply appropriate interaction design and interactive learning principles
  • Accommodate social, cultural, political, and other individual factors that may influence learning
  • Conduct industry research and interviews with subject matter experts and translate findings into effective learning experiences
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to develop, curate, and review content for new and existing courses
  • Coordinate the review, revision, editorial, and document production process
  • Efficiently develop knowledge of new topics, an understanding of the audience(s) the topic applies to, and the context in which it applies on‑the‑job
  • Contribute to development initiatives involving third parties (graphic designer, animator, voice over talent) and require third‑party accountability resulting in the delivery of assets contributing to a quality product and efficient instructional design process
  • Maintain project documentation and digital course files; use an existing content management framework and processes to prioritize projects, organize workflow, and maintain course versions
  • Manage development timelines and ensure that all involved are apprised of timing and progress
  • Prepare sales team to be able to discuss the course, expected outcomes, and benefits with members and other customers
  • Develop and provide information to appropriate personnel for internal and customer‑facing communications related to course development
  • Embrace and contribute to a collaborative course development environment, working closely with others to understand and optimize capabilities with consideration for resources
  • Manage self to establish and meet company goals and deliver by a agreed‑upon deadline.
  • Provide peer review and QA of other instructional designers’ courseware as needed.
  • Function as staff resource for assigned courses
  • Observe instructor‑led classes for the purposes of assessing program effectiveness and evaluating instructor performance
