Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Sergeant will conduct daily briefings, evaluate situations, and deploy manpower appropriately.
  • Prepare and review reports on operations and activities.
  • Provide support for officers responding to calls related to crimes, accidents, and disturbances.
  • Review officers’ reports for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Conduct preliminary reports as necessary.
  • Protect crime scenes and preserve physical evidence as needed.
  • Provide general assistance and information to students, faculty and staff.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED and 400 or more hours of certified police academy training from a recognized State of Illinois training facility.
  • At least three years of experience as a Campus Safety officer or member of a certificated police department.
Qualifications
  • Objectivity and the ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Confidentiality in all matters is imperative.
  • Experience as a Campus Safety officer or member of a certificated police department.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Certificates, Credentials, Licenses

Full time certification by ILETSB.

Computer Skills

Basic keyboarding and ability to use or learn business software and law enforcement databases.
