Position

Purpose

The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring that students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum.

Key Duties
  • Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles while developing curricula that align with industry standards.
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and offers individualized support.
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Job Responsibilities
  • Teach classes on a scheduled basis, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment that fosters student engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
  • Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records for each student, submitting attendance, grades, evaluations, and other documentation as required by institutional procedures.
  • Proactively notify the supervisor of any current or potential issues that require immediate attention and implement proven retention techniques to support student success.
  • Complete assigned performance‑based teacher education modules, participate in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and respond to student feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Attend and/or lead in‑service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure ongoing professional development and collaboration with peers.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of department equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests to the supervisor or appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Monitor student attendance closely, alerting the supervisor to any absences, particularly at the first, third, and fifth occurrences, to address potential retention issues.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the aircraft maintenance program.
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate.
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands‑on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations will be given for more diverse experience).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, with contemporary knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
